  1. If you were a user of prior versions of Torquemada, your main concern
  2. is likely to be: What has changed?

  7. ADDED WITH TORQUEMADA 1.2.X:

  9. The user inteface has been overhauled in a major way. See the section
  10. headed "User interface notes..." in the Torquemanual.
  11.  
  12. Five of the untyped wildcards have gone away to make space for five
  13. new wildthings. If you have sets that use ^5 through ^9, you will
  14. need to revise them. The new wildthings are described under the
  15. headings "TYPED WILDCARDS", "THE DO-IT-YOURSELF WILDCARD", and "THE
  16. WILDSTRING MODIFIER".

  21. ADDED WITH TORQUEMADA 1.3.X:

  23. Torquemada the Inquisitor 1.3.X exists to serve two goals. Primarily,
  24. it brings Torquemada the Inquisitor into conformity with the changes
  25. introduced in Torquemada's Ghost. Those two pieces of software use the
  26. same source code for their action routines, so many changes consisted
  27. of revising the user interface to accomodate changes in the core
  28. logic. And secondarily, there are some user interface enhancements and
  29. bug fixes that don't relate specifically to Torquemada's Ghost. The
  30. changes are these:

  32. 1. Fixed a bug that prevented {option-h}/{option-k} from aliasing
  33. properly.
  34.  
  35. 2. In the Pyre of Purification, Shift-Tab now moves you back one
  36. field, much as Tab moves you forward.
  37.  
  38. 3. When opening a set the cursor will be in the first field.
  39.  
  40. 4. A set file can contain an infinite number of stings.
  41.  
  42. 5. The Pyre of Purification will still only edit files consisting of
  43. 20 search and replace strings. If you attempt to edit a set containing
  44. more than 20 pairs of strings, you will get an ALRT inviting you to
  45. Cancel! or Truncate the set.

  47. 6. Tab(s) can be used as the delimiter between strings. Open the set
  48. file called "A Legal Set File" from a text editor or word processor to
  49. see how this looks in real life. Torquemada continues to Save sets
  50. using CR as the delimiter. Be careful Pasting into WP docs; TQM
  51. filters tabs and returns before he saves, but you'll need to do this
  52. manually after you Paste.

  54. 7. Torquemada now allows up to 256 files per batch. The maximum number
  55. of set files remains 32, but since search strings can now come in
  56. infinite quantities, it doesn't seem like a problem.

  58. 8. The Movado Museum Watch cursor is now somewhat better behaved.
  59.  
  60. 9. You can now abort a batch of files with Command-Period. This will
  61. only happen between files, not between sets or between searches.

  64. TORQUEMADA'S GHOST
  65.  
  66. New with version 1.3.X is a piece of software called Torquemada's
  67. Ghost. The Ghost is a scriptable Torquemada. While it can be used
  68. interactively by Drag & Drop, its primary purpose is to allow
  69. AppleEvent scripters to access Torquemada from their AppleScript or
  70. Frontier scripts. Frontier scripter Eugene Barnes has lent us his
  71. expertise by writing Frontier glue scripts for Torquemada's Ghost.
  72. These scripts and their documentation can be found in the folder
  73. "Torquemada’s Ghost Glue ƒ". The functions of Torquemada's Ghost are
  74. described in the Torquemanual under the heading "TORQUEMADA'S GHOST".
